its interesting to me how common divorce is in the H-G societies i've read about. it seems like basically the default to divorce your first marriage. i mean part of it is that marriage was often arranged by your parents for connections. its weird, you think about "marriage for connections" as a rich person thing but if you're an H-G connections to a community in a location that gets different weather than you, etc are extremely valuable. im not sure how common divorce has been in ag socieites? i feel like its pretty common for it to be heavily frowned upon. if youre sedentary, and your houses are much more expensive to build, fluid social relations are much more expensive
